A pebble is a well-polished rounded rock fragment with a diameter greater than 5 mm deposited in a river or lake. Pebbles form over long periods of time and are mainly composed of siliceous rock. The formation process is divided into the rock weathering stage, the rock disintegration and collapse stage, and the round grinding stage associated with river transportation.
