This geopark is located in the mountains of Neixiang County in the Qinling orogenic belt. It became a national geopark in 2002. The geopark contains a complex continental orogen that formed during several periods due to different processes, and the orogen played an important role in the formation and evolution of the Chinese mainland. The park records the evolutionary history of the orogenic belt over three billion years. The rich, systematic, continuous and complete information about continental dynamics makes it an ideal place for studying the evolution of the Qinling Orogenic Belt. The landscape formed by the Yanshanian granite is also very distinctive.
