Toxic substances in the natural environment may go through physical, chemical and biological processes and release toxic substances into the environment. Examples include volcanic ash and harmful gases from volcanic eruptions, smoke from forest fires caused by lightning, silt, dirt and viruses caused by floods, airborne salt particles from seawater evaporation, and liquid particles and sand mobilized by strong winds.
