Mount Phoenix Geopark, Heilongjiang

This geopark is located within the Shanhetun Forestry Administration District in southeastern Heilongjiang Province. It has an area of 307 km2, and most of the geological features are concentrated in an area of 50 km2. It became a national geopark in 2011. The geopark contains interesting geological structures, geomorphology and water bodies. It is a famous tourist attraction in northern China and has long had the reputation of being the ‘Oriental Shangri-La’ and ‘First Park in Guandong’ (Guandong refers to the eastern part of the Shanhai Pass, including Liaoning Province, Jilin Province, Heilongjiang Province and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region). It has well-preserved heritage, such as the original alpine tundra wetlands and meadow wetlands at low, moderate and high elevations.
