Marine Abrasion-Type Granite Landscape – Pingtan Type
Reference work entry
When subject to marine erosion, granite near the coast or in other areas forms a landscape characterised by cliffs, platforms, stacks and caves. Sandy beaches and embankments along the coast formed by the deposition of fine granite sand from marine erosion are features of this landscape. Marine abrasion-type landscapes provide important evidence for determining sea level changes. The Pingtan Scenic Area in Fujian is a typical example of this landscape type (Fig. 10).
