This park is located in the borderland of the Chocó Department in northwestern Columbia near Panama, and it protects a core area of 720 km2. The main landforms of the park are low hills, followed by piedmont plains. Because it is located in a tropical zone with humid weather and thick forests, the park is inhabited by diverse flora and fauna. It nurtures many types of endangered animals and provides a sanctuary for numerous endemic plants.
