The Jinning movement was the folding tectonic event that occurred between the middle Neoproterozoic Era (Nanhuan Period) and the early Neoproterozoic Era (Qingbaikouan Period) more than 800 million years ago. It formed an extensive regional angular unconformity. The Jinning movement formed the Yangtze Platform and the base of the Tarim Platform. It was an important crustal movement in China’s geologic history.
