This geopark is located 40 km southwest of Jigzhi County, Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province. It became a national geopark in 2005. Glacial and moraine landforms are the main features, particularly those located 4,000 to 4,500 m above sea level. Glacial melting and glacial erosion at different times developed numerous glacial erosion landscapes, such as steep cliffs, peaks forests and valleys. The Omutso Glacier Valley in the geopark retains the periglacial landforms left over from the Quaternary Ice Age in the hinterland of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau.
