This site is located on the southwestern corner of the Korean peninsula approximately 90 km from the coast. It has a core protected area of 94.7 km2. The heritage site comprises three sites with a total area of 188 km2. The pure black lava cave is considered to be the best-preserved lava tunnel in the world, and Sunrise Peak is a cone-shaped peak composed of tuff. The highest peak in Korea is Halla Mountain, which has waterfalls, several types of rocks and crater lakes.
