Injection is the process in which foreign substances penetrate into the parent rock via schistosity or fissures. A common injection process is the intrusion of granite into the schistosity and fissures of metamorphic rocks to form new feldspar or quartz with banded, augen or dendritic distributions to form ‘injection gneiss’. During the injection process, metasomatism is insignificant.
