Volcanic eruptions generate hot gases and fluids that mix with clastic materials and then flow along the ground surface. An ignimbrite is a volcaniclastic rock formed by the consolidation of these materials and has a pyroclastic structure. It is characterised by the presence of plastic fragments (magma fragments), and after consolidation, it appears as flame-like lava banding (called fiamme) and has a flow-like structure.
