This site is located in the Denizli Province in southwestern Turkey. The total area of the heritage site is 10.77 km2. The 200-m-high cliffs overlook plains with springs running through the limestone landscape. The Pamkalay (cotton palace) section creates a natural wonder composed of calcium carbonate deposits. There are mineral forests, petrified waterfalls and a series of terraced basins. At the end of the second century AD, the Kings of Pajara of the Atalides Dynasty built the Hierapolis geothermal spa resort. There are also historical hot spring baths, monasteries and other Greek relics.
