The 2018 edition of the International Chronostratigraphic Chart defines the bottom boundary of the Archean Eon as 4 billion years ago and assigns the period from 4.6 to 4 billion years ago as the Hadean Eon or Priscoan Eon (informal nomenclature). Because the rocks collected from the moon have been dated to this period of time, the Hadean Eon is also called the Moon Eon.
