Fossils of this biota come from the Late Triassic rocks in Xin Pu, Guanling County, Guizhou Province. This biota was made up of several phyla of vertebrates and invertebrates, including marine reptiles, such as Ichthyosaurus, Nothosaurus, Thalattosaurus and Phytosaurus, and associated fossils, such as crinoids, ichthyolites, ammonites, bivalves and eophytes. This biota is rich in well-preserved fossils, and it is significant for research in palaeontology, stratigraphy, palaeogeography, palaeoecology and taphonomy. These fossils also have elegant forms and hence high ornamental value (Fig. 41).
