Anatoly Isaakovich Lurie (∗July 6, jul.(19th, greg.), 1901, in Mogilev, Russian Empire; †February 12, 1980, in Leningrad, Soviet Union) was a scientist in the field of theoretical and applied mechanics and control processes.
Education
From 1920 till 1923, he was a student of the Ural Mining Institute (Jekaterinburg, Russian Federation). In 1923 he enrolled the Petrograd (from 1924 Leningrad) Polytechnic Institute (LPI). Here he was graduated in 1925. From 1925 till 1929, he was a PhD student at the same institute in the Faculty of Physics and Mechanics. In 1929 he finished his PhD thesis successfully.
In 1926 he married Berta Yakovlevna Granat. Their son (Konstantin Anatolievich) is a professor at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (USA).
Professional Carrier
In 1925–1941 he was employed in the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute as PhD student, assistant, and lecturer and from 1935 professor and head of the Institute of “Theoretical Mechanics.” In 1939 he obtained...
