Genus of mites, which parasitizes on bat species:
  • Spinturnix myoti at the greater mouse-eared bat (Myotis myotis)

  • Spinturnix bechsteini at the Bechstein’s bat (Myotis bechsteinii)

Both hosts have largely different social systems with respect to group size, mating system, and dispersal patterns. Thus there have been developed in both – bats and single mite species – completely different population genetics developed by coevolutionary pressure.
