This severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome occurs after bites of the ticks  Haemaphysalis longicornis,  Amblyomma testudinarium, and Ixodes nipponensis, which transmit these viruses in many regions of East Asia, which has led, besides mild cases, also to death in more than 30 cases.
