Genus of  Acanthocephala found in fish (e.g., S. sagittifer in sea breams). Predator fish harbors the adult worms, while their late larvae (= post-cystacanths) are encapsulated in various species of fishes and preceding ones in arthropods. If humans ingest raw fish meat containing the larvae they may become infected, too.
