Soluble egg antigen preparations of Schistosoma mansoni and S. haematobium have been shown to have proliferative and genotoxic effects on tissues of their hosts. Examples are omega-1 protein of S. mansoni, IPSE/alpha-1 of S. mansoni, or several SEA preparations of S. haematobium.
