Definition
Polymyalgia rheumatica is a suspected autoimmune disease occurring in patients over the age of 50 with symptoms of muscle pain, most often in the shoulder and neck region but also in muscles of the trunk and pelvic girdle, and signs of inflammation in blood tests: elevated ESR and CRP.
