Fluid within the four brain ventricles, mainly produced by the choroid plexus. The average pressure (in lateral recumbent position) is 150–250 mmH2O, depending on CSF secretion and absorption, intracranial arterial and venous pressure, hydrostatic pressure, brain bulk, and status of surrounding coverings.
