Lung Cancer Pharmacogenomics
Lung cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and a leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide. For therapeutic purposes, lung cancer is divided into two classes, non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small-cell lung cancer (SCLC). The three main subtypes of NSCLC are adenocarcinoma, squamous-cell carcinoma, and large-cell carcinoma with adenocarcinoma being the most common histological subtype. Lung cancer pharmacogenomics is the study of the role of lung cancer genetics in drug response. Pharmacogenomics encompasses a genome-wide association approach, incorporates genomics and epigenetics, and deals with the effects of multiple genes on drug response.
