Alpha-Galactoses

This component and other oligosaccharides of tick saliva (especially of Amblyomma americanum and Ixodesricinus) are claimed to initiate allergies in several humans that have eaten undercooked meat of cattle that had been infested with such ticks. Clear signs were found in the USA and similar ones are suspected after Ixodesricinus bites in Europe. Most common reactions in humans are urticaria and anaphylaxis.
