Definition

BAD is a Bcl-2 antagonist of  apoptosis/death, a pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family of proteins. It is a 18 kD protein that binds to Bcl-xL and Bcl-2. It competes out the binding of Bcl-xL and Bcl-2 to Bax, thus promoting apoptosis.
