Extravasation

Definition

In inflammation, the movement of leukocytes from the capillaries to the tissue is called extravasation. In cancer, it refers to circulating tumor cells exiting the microvasculature to the surrounding tissue. The passage of cancer cells from blood or lymph vessels to the surrounding tissues. Escape of a particle from the bloodstream into the surrounding tissues.
