Digital Cinema Projection

Abstract
This article discusses the challenges presented by the replacement of traditional 35-mm film projectors with modern digital electronic projection equipment. It discusses the motivation for change and the history of the technologies required. The specific challenges of the motion picture industry together with those of specialist cinema operators are reviewed in the context of the requirements and standards that have been prescribed and adopted by the applicable bodies.
