a transparent to translucent, honey-yellow, orangey-yellow, brownish-orange to hyacinth-red or brownish-red variety of opal, which emits fire like reflections in bright light, whether or not it displays a play of color. n: 1.45. Found in Mexico and Australia. Also called  girasol, pyrophane, or  gold opal,  fire.
