a misleading term for a green variety of onyx marble from Tecali, Mexico, which is known as Mexican onyx and used as a jade imitation. Also spelled tecalo,  tecati, and called  tecali marble. Tecali is a corrupt term of the Aztec name Teocal for Mexican Indians temples.
