synthetic pink spinel and some pink-colored glass are used as a kunzite imitation, both are easy to distinguish, glass is amorphous and spinel cubic, while spodumene is double refractive. Amethyst is also used but the refractive indices and specific gravity of amethyst are different from spodumene.
