a term applied to the Laue photographs or diagrams. A characteristic X-ray spots pattern used in the analysis of minerals, gemstones, pearls, crystal symmetry, and distinguishable between natural and cultured pearls, when the pearl is not drilled. The pattern is produced by the diffraction of X-ray beam. Also called Laue pattern. Laue method.
