1988 RK1. Discovered 1988 Sept. 10 by C. S. Shoemaker and E. M. Shoemaker at Palomar.
Named for the brother of Polydoros and a son of Priam {see planets (4708) and (844)}; born of the queen Laothoe. Some years before the Trojan war, Achilles {see planet (588)} captured Lykaon and sold him into slavery, but Lykaon made his way back to Troy, only to be killed by Achilles beside the River Skamander.
