In short, fire frequency can also be defined as the number of times that fires occur within a defined area and time period. Fire frequency is also a mathematical expression of fire occurrence or rate, such as the average time interval between successive fires or the number of fires within a specific period of time. It is a generic term referring to general fire occurrence or rate (Firewords 2018).
State of the Art
Fire frequency is one of the main components of fire regime, together with the pattern and the intensity of wildfires which prevail in a region (Pyne et al. 1996a). Characterizing fire frequency has many implications for fire ecology and for fire risk assessment. Computation of fire frequency is dependent on the duration and the quality of the fire databases; technological advances like remote sensing and improved fire databases worldwide will offer new insights into the spatial and temporal variations of fire frequency...
