Mark Stanton, Ph.D., ABPP

Introduction

Dr. Stanton is the provost and a professor of psychology at Azusa Pacific University, California. He is a licensed psychologist certified in Couple and Family Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Stanton has over 50 publications including books, articles, and book chapters. His research interests are in the areas of family therapy, the systemic treatment of substance abuse, and competencies in couple and family therapy.

Career

Dr. Stanton received his BA from Hope International University. Then, he went on to the Fuller Theological Seminary where he received his MDiv in Theology and a PhD in Marital and Family Therapy. He started his academic career as an assistant professor in the Department of Graduate Psychology at Azusa Pacific University (1990–1991), where he later served as founding director of the APA-accredited Doctor of Psychology program (1996–2006) and founding dean of the School of Behavioral and...
