Definition

Governance and trust refers to the civic trust on the government’s implementation of public affairs including policy formulation and execution.

Introduction

Trust in governance is crucial to manage future change and to engineer innovations and reforms that help citizens to get access to reliable and quality public services and also facilitate subjective well-being. The government cannot meet the future challenges if there exist “trust deficit” so it is important to restore trust in governance. Researches on cross- and within country exhibits individual and organizational specific determinants of trusts. Numerical studies found that trust is associated with religiosity, education, demography, accessibility of public services, institutional quality, and involvement in political-democratic system.
