Introduction
Christopher J. Mruk is a professor of psychology at Bowling Green State University in Ohio where he is a member of its Firelands College, one of the university’s undergraduate colleges, as well as the university’s graduate college. He is a clinical psychologist who specializes in (1) self-esteem, (2) humanistic psychology, and (3) positive psychology.
Education and Background
Christopher J. Mruk was born in 1949 in Warren, Michigan. He earned his BS in psychology from Michigan State University in 1971. Then, he worked in the field as a psychiatric technician for a year before becoming the supervisor of a methadone program for heroin addiction in Detroit, MI. Next, Mruk received an MA in humanistic psychology from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, and went on to work as a crisis intervention therapist at St. Lawrence Hospital, Lansing, MI, in one of the nation’s first two 24-h comprehensive psychiatric emergency services.
