Chasovoy Island

Chasovoy Island – situated in the middle of the eastern entrance into Krasnoy Armii (Red Army) Strait of Severnaya Zemlya, the Kara Sea. Ch.I. was named so after a resemblance with a sentry (rus. “chasovoy”) guarding the strait entrance in 1953.
