Oceanographic Encyclopedia – was published in New York, USA, in 1966 and, in the Russian language, in Leningrad in 1979. It is compiled by renowned scientists from different countries, including the Soviet Union, edited by Rhodes W. Fairbridge. It contains more than 200 articles, which provide information about the World Ocean, its hydrology, geology, hydrobiology, hydrochemistry, mineral, and energy resources. Among the descriptions of the seas of the World Ocean, there is a description of the Barents and White Seas, written by M.V. Klenova. It should be noted that in the English edition, the article on the Kara Sea was not included. It was specially written at the request of the publisher for the Russian edition by the AARI staff members E.S. Nikiforov, V.V.Panov, and A.O. Shpeikher.
