Myrna L. Friedlander (1947–)

Introduction

Myrna L. Friedlander, Ph.D. (The Ohio State University, 1980), is Professor of Psychology and Director of Doctoral Training at the University at Albany/State University of New York. Dr. Friedlander’s 37 years of research and clinical practice exemplifies a commitment to understanding the mechanisms of change in couples and family therapy. Specifically, Dr. Friedlander’s scholarly work has provided an immense contribution to the field of family therapy by bridging the gap between research and practice in the area of improving the therapeutic alliance. Additionally, a significant amount of Dr. Friedlander’s research has focused on clinical supervision, which has offered important insights into the enhancement the supervisory relationship.
