Now known as Aleph, Jewish Renewal is a trans-denominational movement grounded in Judaism's prophetic, spiritual, and mystical traditions with the aim of political, ecological, and ultimately cosmic healing (in Hebrew, tikkun olam).

Conservative Judaism is a North American denomination dating from the early twentieth century that is more adaptive to modern living than Orthodoxy but less than the more liberal Reform movement. Halakah (Jewish law) is generally binding on Conservative Jews but is not considered to be of wholly supernatural origin.
