Cyanide (HCN)

A very powerful inhibitor of cellular oxidation that works by forming a complex with cytochrome oxidase and is thus an extremely dangerous poison. Sodiumthiosulfate and sodium nitrate are antidotes. Cyanides may be present in various foods (almond) and feed (Sudan grass, white clover).
