Definition

A rolling bearing test is a bearing performance test designed to determine rolling bearing fatigue life and to evaluate effects of bearing materials, heat treatment process, and surface finish process on rolling contact fatigue (RCF) life using experimental techniques.

Bearing Life Testing

Due to the nature of rolling element bearings fatigue life, seemingly identical bearings have dispersed fatigue lives under the same operating conditions. However, it is important and necessary for application engineers to predict bearing service life with high accuracy for their applications. Bearing life testing with full-scale bearing assembly is a direct and accurate method for determining RCF life for specific bearing applications, although it is an expensive and time-consuming approach.
