Reference work entry
Definition
A term related to population groups in multiethnic countries, when one or several groups have a much smaller size than the dominating population. A minority population might also experience prosecution and therefore turn into a refugee population under the conditions of being removed from their habitual residence. In some cases a minority population might also receive the influx of migrants or refugees from the same population of origin, displaced in a more recent conflict or due to political changes.
