Cyclic GMP(cGMP)-dependent protein kinase is encoded by two genes that encode for cGMP kinase Iα and Iβ and cGMP kinase II. cGMP kinase Iα and Iβ are isozymes that differ only at the amino terminus. The amino terminus controls the activity of the enzyme and interacts very specifically with different targets.
