These are chemokine receptor blocking agents that do not induce receptor-mediated signal transduction. Numerous antagonists have been generated by means of chemokine structure modifications. For potential use in the treatment of inflammatory diseases small molecular weight (non-peptide) compounds are favored over chemokine-derived inhibitors.
