Joint Computer-aided Acquisition and Logistics Support System

For the U.S. Department of Defense, an integrated system that (a) provides for acquiring, creating, improving, and managing logistic technical information, (b) links participating sites via local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs), (c) provides advanced imaging and display support, and (d) is designed to reduce voluminous and costly paperwork in the process of acquisition and maintenance of military systems. Note: Communications networks and computer networks may be used to support the Joint Computer-aided Acquisition and Logistics Support System. Common abbreviation JCALS System.
