1. A material used to remove buffers, coatings, and claddings from a dielectric waveguide, such as an optical fiber. 2. A device or scheme used to remove cladding modes from a dielectric waveguide, such as an optical fiber. See cladding-mode stripper, fiber optic mode stripper.
