Storage in which the magnetic properties of materials are used to store data, usually in the form of magnetized areas, spots, or dipoles on a continuous surface coated with a magnetizable material, such as magnetic tapes, drums, disks, cards, and thin films, or as individual pieces of magnetized material, such as magnetic cores, slugs, and core-ropes.
