The Chinese Academy of Tourism Earth Science and Geopark Research, Geological Society of China, was commissioned by the Land and Resources Department of the State Planning Commission to develop a tourism resources distribution map of China. The map was completed in December 1986, and it was the first national tourism resources map of China.
