This is a glacial hilly landform composed of flat-topped circular to elongated mounds. The mounds have diameters of 0.1–2 km and heights of 5–70 m with steep slopes. They always occur in groups with a chaotic pattern near the terminal moraine of alpine or continental glaciers. Kames are composed of sandy loam, sand and fine gravel with obvious bedding in various forms. Lenses of gravel kame moraines are often sandwiched inside a kame, and most kames are covered with moraine materials.
