The Jinchuan copper-nickel mine is one of China’s three major polymetallic ore fields. Nickel is the main ore. Located in Jinchang City, Gansu Province, the ore field was discovered in 1958. The mineral deposits are mainly located in the Jinchuan ultramafic rock mass. The deposit is a deep melting-compound penetration-type deposit. Based on its composition, the ore body is divided into four types: in situ magma melting, deep magma melting and penetration, late-stage magma penetration and contact metasomatism. This field mainly contains nickel ore; its nickel sulphide reserves rank second in the world. There are also 18 other kinds of non-ferrous and rare metals. This mine ranks first in the country in nickel and cobalt production and is also China’s main platinum production field (Fig. 6).
